Caregiver and Community Education

The California Southland Chapter of the Alzheimer's Association sponsors a variety of educational events on topics that include memory loss, Alzheimer's disease, other dementias, caregiving issues, medical topics, and community resources. The Speakers' Bureau of the California Southland Chapter provides knowledgeable speakers who conduct educational presentations to community organizations on a variety of topics. The California Southland Chapter distributes a variety of literature of interest to caregivers and the general public. For more information, click on one of the selections below.

    Caregiver and Community Education Events

    The Alzheimer's Association of Los Angeles cosponsors educational events for caregivers and the general public during each Spring and Fall. These events are hosted and cosponsored by community agencies throughout Los Angeles County. Topics include memory loss, Alzheimer's disease, other dementias, caregiving issues, medical topics, and community resources. These events, which take place across Los Angeles County and are conducted in a variety of languages, reach over 3,000 people annually.     Speaker's Bureau

    The Speaker's Bureau of the California Southland Chapter provides knowledgeable speakers who conduct educational presentations, on a range of topics, to over 11,000 individuals a year to a variety of audiences including community groups, churches, agencies, professionals and caregivers. The Speaker's Bureau membership of over 150 volunteers, includes physicians, healthcare and social services professional, clergy and caregivers. The Speaker's Bureau also has many multilingual members who conduct presentations in a variety of languages.

    Educational Materials

    The California Southland Chapter both distributes a broad range of literature developed by the National Alzheimer's Association and other groups including pamphlets, books and brochures on a broad range of related topics. Many items are available free of charge or at low cost. Training manuals developed by the California Southland Chapter are available for law enforcement, social worker, day care providers, health care providers, respite workers and others. Some literature is available in a variety of languages.
